EV Installation work by Ridgeway Electrical

Home charge points across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Surrey are installed around your daily mileage, your supply and your consumer unit. Where the main fuse is tight, we design in load management rather than upsizing the supply.

Common questions

Will my supply take a 7.4 kW charger?
Most homes will, with load curtailment fitted. We check the main fuse and consumer unit first and tell you plainly if an upgrade is needed.
Tethered or socketed?
Tethered is more convenient day to day; socketed is more flexible if you change cars or share the unit. We fit either.
How long does the install take?
Three to six hours for a standard install, including testing, commissioning and setting up the app.
Which chargers do you install?
Simpson & Partners, VCHRGD and Nexblue units — all smart-charging compliant with the 2021 regulations.

Georgian townhouse charge point with load management

A tight 60 A supply and a listed frontage. We ran the cable internally through an existing service void and fitted a 7.4 kW unit with CT clamp curtailment, avoiding a supply upgrade entirely.

Two other firms said we needed the supply upsized. These didn't, and they were right. You can't see the cable run at all.
